How to Retire Your Husband

Have you ever heard the term retiring your husband? I heard this first from one of my favorite mentor’s podcasts (Sigrun) and then I heard it again from another woman entrepreneur friend. What an intriguing concept! To think that we women can earn enough that our husbands and partners can stop working! Love that idea and I'm delighted to announce that I have officially retired my husband.

Can a Non-Working Husband Work?

Now this is such a great concept, let’s explore it! First, you’re going to need to be open minded – you know this is going to disrupt some long-held beliefs and it might not even sit right with your own husband!  This completely disrupts and throws on its head our images, ideas, and concepts about how men and women should contribute financially. You need to completely disrupt and replace your notions (and your partner’s) on who should be working and who should be bringing in the money. It’s a shift for sure but you’ll be glad you did it.

This doesn't mean that he’ll never go to work again or earn money. What it does mean is that he is now sharing in your financial freedom. You’re both now free from the bonds of a 9 to 5 job and from working for someone else! You both now can live where you want, on the schedule you want, and with the freedom you’ve earned. You no longer have to plan your life around work schedules and vacation breaks!

Financial Freedom for Your Family

This is one of the reasons I am so passionate about being a woman entrepreneur and a woman entrepreneur with the driving business in our family. It's because of my work, because of the business that I have built, that we are able to live as we want to live and I am able to retire my husband. It's also why I particularly love having a product-based businesses because you can literally live and work anywhere you want in the world. You're not tied down to a physical location.

A Mindset Shift

We’ve talked a lot about mindset shifts and this is a big one. I want you, my fellow women entrepreneurs, to step up and into the level of income that gives you this freedom. It starts with changing your mindset around who “brings home the bacon”! It can be you and you can be the force behind your husband quitting his day job to pursue his dreams and live the life you’ve both dreamed of. There is no doubt that my first step to my success was shifting my mindset around this concept. And that’s just it – the way you’re living now (Maybe too small? Maybe not reaching past your fears?) is just a concept. It’s not reality. You can change your reality by shifting your perceptions. There is no ceiling to what a woman entrepreneur can achieve when she wants to.

What's stopping us are our own concepts, beliefs and mindsets that “women should just be like this” or “that earning money and focusing on my money is not feminine”. It’s time to let these outdated concepts go. They’re aren’t serving you anymore!

When you let this go, you’ll be able to freely step into your empowerment, your strength, and your abilities. You’ll find the path to growing your own financial freedom and soon you’ll be retiring your husband. And you won’t believe how freeing it is, like stepping into one of the greatest days you ever had in your life.

So, I am here to encourage all of you women entrepreneurs to really step up your game, to analyze your beliefs around earning money, and to live your extraordinary life.
