One Simple Trick to Visualize Your Success
We’ve all seen the videos going around about “manifesting your destiny” and visualizing your success. And it does work if you do it consistently -- I know this because I’ve done it in my own life. But it’s much easier than all those video gurus are telling you and my method only takes minutes a day. Here’s the really effective and simple trick I used to grow my own business.
Make it Sticky.
I talked about this briefly in a previous blog post (go back here and read for more good tips). But today I’m going talk only about my favorite way to really see my goals: I write them all on sticky notes and put them everywhere in my apartment and my office. And let me tell you, it has increased my revenue and really bumped my sales into the next level.
I started this about six or seven years ago when my sales were still pretty low. Now for most businesses those sales would have been considered okay but I knew they could be higher. (And BTW: I was so right. I look back now and see that my sales weren’t even close to their potential!). So, I wrote down on a piece of paper what I wanted my yearly sales to be, what I wanted my monthly sales to be, what I wanted for my weekly sales and, therefore, my daily sales.
I wrote these numbers down on little sticky notes and put them everywhere. I put them on the mirror so I’d see it as I was brushing my teeth. I put them in front of my sink so I’d see them when I was washing dishes. I put them on the console of my car, so when I'm driving, I can look at the number. I put it on my big computer. I put it right here on my laptop computer. I put it everywhere. And I would just look at the number, literally. I still do this today. I look, and I look, and I look, and I start to inhale the number. And then I start to believe that is my number.
The reason why this works is the law of attraction which works everywhere and every time. Whether you believe in it or not, it doesn't matter because it's operating. Saying your number out loud, writing it down, living with it, shifts your mindset. And this shift affects your output.
So here’s how you do it (you’ll need a big pad of sticky pads for this exercise):
Step One: Set your number goal. Whether it’s daily, weekly, or yearly or whether it’s sales or Instagram followers, pick the number you are working for. Be realistic but don’t be afraid to stretch. If your sales at the moment are zero, I don't suggest your sales goal this year to be five million! Pick something beyond what you can believe could happen but is within some level of potential reality.
Step Two: Take a few minutes to sit with this number. If you journal, write it down and then describe to yourself what this number means for you. Because it’s not just a “number”! It’s your dream, it’s your freedom, it’s your future. How will you feel when you achieve it? What will it do for your business and your personal life?
Step Three: Write that number down on sticky notes and put them everywhere you are each day. Like I did, put them on the bathroom mirror, by your coffee maker, by your back door, on your steering wheel, by your bedside lamp. You want to see this number everywhere you go today and tomorrow!
Step Four: Change it up once in a while so that sticky note stands out to you.
Step Five: Celebrate your success! When you hit that number, throw yourself a party! Then set a new goal and start all over.
I know this will work for you like it did for me! Try it today and let me know what you think.
